Unique Challenges Women Face in Leadership

Monday, April 16, 2018

Library Sponsored - Open to Public

Presented by Loretta K. Cate, DPh., CPCC founder and principal of Access Leadership EDGE.  Much has been written about the impending wave of retirements as the Baby Boomer cohort reaches the traditional age range. Recent robust stock market gains and other economic improvements have given many the wherewithal to retire.  With many Boomers occupying key leadership positions, the management exodus promises to be significant.  All agree that moving into this vacuum will be an influx of millennials and minorities, particularly, women.  The imperative now for organizations will be to understand how best to find, engage, develop, and retain these professionals.  Despite CEO commitment to gender parity, organizational culture and practices are not shifting women’s perceptions and beliefs regarding career advancement.   The unique challenges women face in leadership are as much about the system as the individual.  It is important for organizations to identify barriers to gender parity and women to understand how they may be self-sabotaging their career.  Attendees will:  Discover the total business impact of strengthening women’s leadership roles; draw insights from the latest research; gain new strategies for increasing the effectiveness of networks and mentorships; learn methods for retaining and advancing women at any age; and understand tactics to advance oneself and others.  Who should attend:  Key business stakeholders; women’s initiative officers; women in leadership roles; and women who want to lead. This program will be held in the Sharon Lawson Room.
